Balkan Countries
The Balkans is a peninsula in southeastern Europe, named after the Balkan mountain range that runs through Bulgaria. The region is a patchwork of countries that emerged from the breakup of Yugoslavia plus several older states. Its borders as a region are debated, so a handful of countries are only partially considered Balkan depending on the source.
